I use two different types of peels in my clinic. Firstly The Perfect Peel which is a medium depth chemical peel using a blend of acids. There is some downtime associated as your skin goes quite red and tight then peels on days 3-5, leaving beautiful, healthy skin by day 7. You will get benefit from one peel but I highly recommend a course of at least three peels every four weeks for maximum benefit.
I also love the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance which is a superficial salicylic acid peel with little to no downtime. This is perfect if you can't commit to any downtime as after a course of six peels, your skin looks glowy, healthy and pigmentation is reduced.
Both of the chemical peels have the benefits below but there is no denying that the stronger the peel (and therefore the downtime!) the better the effect. No pain, no gain!

Chemical peels aren't painful but they do feel very hot on the skin. I give my patients a handheld fan, which they can control, for comfort. The heat increases and then subsides. I always talk to my patients about how they're feeling and that helps guide how many layers of the peel I apply.
Each chemical peel session lasts around 30-45 minutes.
